Hermione was huddled on the floor on her hands and knees to offset the horrible shaking sobs issuing from her body. In front of her was his body, pale – oh god, so horribly pale – green tinged around the lips, his wand carelessly dropped a few feet away. A horrible keening was escaping her lips as she rocked and cried, her hand outstretched toward his form, but darting back when she neared touching him.
