"You think you're better than me."
"Oh, I don't think so," Hermione said, one hand on the doorknob. She smiled sweetly at Ginny over her shoulder. "I know I'm better." (The virtue of the patience, by Goldy)

Okay…so, here it is the final chapter. Thank you to everyone who read and reviewed this fic.
Chapter 28: Altercation.
After watching Harry close the door behind him, Hermione took a deep breath. It would be easier if he was there with her, but she knew it wouldn't be right. This was something she needed to do alone. And, perhaps, a small evil side of her would even enjoy it...
"WELL?" a very impatient Ginny Weasley said behind Hermione. Her previous tears were already gone.
Feeling a little tired, Hermione went to her bed, and sat down on its edge. "Well, Ginevra," she finally said, "I think we need to talk. Don't you think?"
Not surprisingly Ginny let go out a dry laugh. "Merlin, Hermione!" She held up her hands in a mock surrender. "Can you be more boring?" Ginny let go out a short snort. "Tell me, please, how did you manage to get hurt in the Forest? Always the damsel in distress, aren't we?"
Hermione just looked at her but didn't say anything.
"What Hermione? Didn't you want to talk to me?"
Hermione shook her head slowly before replying. "I don't understand you, Ginny," she said in an almost pitying tone. "I don't understand why you have so much hate- why can't you just let go."
Ginny rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Please, Hermione," she snorted stressing the last word, "I thought you were a clever person. What in fucking hell don't you understand? Or do you really think Harry loves you?" She stopped and gawked at the brown haired girl, her eyes narrowing. "Oh, you do think he loves you! Pathetic, Hermione. Pathetic to say the least."
Hermione gazed imperceptibly at the closed door. She knew what Harry had done- the Sonorus Charm. She knew that all castle, or at least a grand part of it, was listening to her and Ginny's talk. She knew she had to think carefully about everything she would say- but did she want it? Obviously that wasn't the way she had expect to announce she was pregnant. Merlin, she was pregnant! However, Hermione was really tired of being proper, of being the nice sweet girl.
She wanted Ginny Weasley humiliated.
"Pathetic? Pathetic, Ginny?" Hermione finally replied with a laugh. "Tell me who is pathetic! Who had been lying about a relationship that was over about a year ago? Did you tell your mum you and Harry are back together?" Hermione laughed. "That's pathetic. At least you could have told Harry first, you know? I don't think he was too happy about it.
." Hermione almost grinned, flipping her hair dismissively. "Not that it really matters because every time we made love-"
"Shut up!" Ginny cried angrily. "Shut up!"
"What, Ginny?" Hermione asked with mock innocence. "You already knew Harry and I slept together. Oh, and we are supposed to be friends aren't we? You always said I was your best friend...so I guess I can tell you how Harry makes me scream his name every time he is inside me. Oh, but he didn't need to be inside me- oh no! Just his hands...oh, Merlin! Those hands!" She shook her head, half chuckling.
"Harry is a guy- I know how men are- they want to shag everything that moves!" Ginny cried back. "I don't care what you are saying, Granger. Just- Just look at you. Look at your boring face, shapeless body...and- and this hair! Merlin, it's just gross! Are you just that thick, Hermione Granger? I told you when we were at The Burrow: you don't belong here." She threw up her hands in false exasperation. "You are just a Muggle with Magic- nothing more, nothing less. You are just an empty shell, a dry carcass- you can't even procre-"
SLAP!
Hermione didn't even know how she had managed to move so quickly. She just knew she had enough.
"Shut your fucking mouth up!" she cried as Ginny stared in astonishment at her. "I'm so sick of you, Ginny! Sick of all your lies! Your pretending! Your false friendship!" her voice was loud and angry. "You spread to the school that Dean got me pregnant- God, you told Harry that Dean had cheated on you with me! You laughed when my parents died!" She took a deep breath, gazing at the redhead with a nauseous expression on her face. "Yes, I am a Muggleborn- and I'm very proud of it- but you, you are just an excuse for a human being. A pitiable ex-" Just then Hermione caught Ginny's hand in the middle air. "Don't. You. Dare," she hissed angrily. "Don't you dare put your filthy hands on me!"
Ginny seemed ready to explode. "Yes! I told some lies!" She cried, retrieving her hand from Hermione's grasp. "So what? I had to get you away from my Harry! Your simple presence just poisoned him. But that doesn't matter anymore. You can say what you want Granger- you are still an empty shell, a-"
Suddenly the doors burst opened and a crying, shocked faced Molly Weasley entered the Infirmary. "That's enough, Ginevra Weasley." Mrs. Weasley wasn't alone; along with her entered the Headmistress, Luna and Ron, Professor Flitwick, Remus (Following Remus' suggestion, Sirius was in the Headmistress' office.), Mr. Weasley, who had been called by Ron, and finally Harry, who whispered a Finite Incantatem as he entered the room. Now was time for little privacy. Not that it would possible as many students and professors had gathered near the door, curious to find out more details.
Some were surprised that Hermione and Harry were in a romantic relationship. Others claimed that they knew all along.
The Slytherins just thought it was disgusting.
However, what had surprised- maybe shocked was the right word- everybody (even the Slytherins) the most was...Ginny Weasley.
No one could imagine that the pretty Weasley had such hate inside her.
A snake within the lion's den.
"Mum!" Ginny exclaimed in surprise. "D-dad? W-What are doing here?" Her eyes then searched the
opened door and saw that there were several people outside. "W-What's going on?"
"Today you made me ashamed to be a Weasley, Ginevra," Mr. Weasley spoke in an uncharacteristic angry tone.
"D-Dad?" Ginny spoke weakly. "I-I don't understand..." She watched in disgust as Harry went towards Hermione and began to kiss her softly, asking incessantly if the brown haired witch was okay.
"Yes, you do Ginevra!" Arthur barked, his face red as his hair.
"Oh, Ginevra..." Mrs. Weasley whipped. "How could say those things to Hermione, Ginny? How? We thought you were her friend!"
Ginny looked slightly confused between her parents. "She stole Harry from me, mum!" she cried out aloud. Why didn't people understand?! "Harry and I love each other, mum!"
"Ginny, I think that's enough," Ron spoke for the first time. He had a sad look in his eyes.
"Shut up, Ron!" she cried angrily at her brother. "You're always by her side!" She turned to Luna, and sniggered. "Watch out, Luna or Hermione will steal your boyfriend too, well if she al-"
Slap!
Surprising everyone in the room, Hermione had come closer to Ginny and gave her another slap. The young brown haired witch had had enough. Actually, she was beyond that point.
"Fuck, Ginny!" Hermione cried, making everyone stare at her. Ron didn't know if he looked proud or afraid. "Look at yourself! I felt pity but now, right now- you make me sick!" She took a deep breath before continuing. "You have this wonderful family, wonderful parents, brothers...and still- and still you turned into this."
"Now, Hermione dear, I know-" Mrs. Weasley tried to mediate but Hermione cut her off.
"No, Mrs. Weasley!" Hermione replied vehemently. "I'm sorry you and Mr. Weasley, and everyone else have to listen to this, but it is just the truth. Your daughter is the worse kind of person that exists.. Not even those Death Eaters are so low, so evil! At least with the Death Eaters you know what you are up against- with your daughter this isn't possible."
"You can say what you want, Hermione!" Ginny laughed dryly. "Because we know Harry-"
"You know nothing," Harry intervened. He couldn't stay in silence anymore. "I. Don't. Love. You," he said strangely calm. "Right now, my feelings towards you, Weasley, are nothing more than disgust. Maybe not even disgust- because if I felt disgust it would mean that I feel something." He shook his head. "You know nothing about love. You can't possibly understand what Hermione and I feel for each other- God, not even I can totally understand it. It's something so good, so great that..." He smiled sadly. "You are too thick to understand what love is."
Ginny gaped in obviously disbelief. She knew he loved her! "B-But Harry, we-we...what about everything we had, we have?!"
"God, Ginny, we only dated for two months!" he shouted at her. "And a few snogs are not what I can call a deep relationship!"
"And shagging this trollop is a relationship?" Ginny asked angrily. Harry just shook his head with pity. "Look at her, Harry! You can't possibly say you are attracted to this! I understand that you are a guy, and you need a body to fuck-"
"Ginevra Weasley!"
"Miss Weasley!"
"But we know she is only a dry carcass, she will never be able to-"
Just then, before Ginny could continue, Luna let go off Ron's hand and went towards Hermione, giving her a tight hug.
"Oh, Hermione! I'm so happy for you and Harry!" the blond Ravenclaw exclaimed as if nothing was going on. Hermione, along with the others, just stared at her. "I sensed it when you returned with Harry. I know it has only been a few days, but I already can sense its magic. That's why the cent..."
"Yes, that's why the centaurs helped me." Hermione now could understand what Luna was talking about. Of course, as an emphatic, Luna was able to feel the magic. She knew she didn't need to explain to the younger witch how that was possible. One other look and she knew that Luna already had the answer: the Blue Phoenix.
"It was unexpected," Harry cut in, squeezing Hermione's hands, "but I am very happy."
"Me too, Harry," Hermione whispered.
"What the hell is this?!" Ginny cried angrily.
Harry and Hermione exchanged glances, and she gave Luna a short nod.
"Oh, Ginny, Hermione's pregnant!" Luna exclaimed with a smile, her dreamy eyes boring into the redhead's. "Isn't that wonderful?"
The room went silent as Ginny looked like she might explode. . Mrs. Weasley...Mrs. Weasley looked shocked and disappointed.
Ron? Ron just smirked. Luna had already told him. And despite the initial shock, he was really happy for his best friends.
Deciding to ignore Ginny's angry face, Harry turned to Mrs. Weasley. "I know, Mrs. Weasley, that we are quite young, and we aren't married- yet," he added looking at Hermione, and smiling, "but this child...this child is a gift, Mrs. Weasley. And I am happier than I ever have been."
Before Mrs. Weasley could say anything, Ginny began to shout.
"How?! This is impossible!" she cried, angry tears falling from her eyes. "I heard Ron and Luna talking about her- I know she can't have children! I know she is just a dry carcass!"
"Ginevra!" Mr. and Mrs. Weasley cried at the same. They couldn't understand what had happened to their daughter.
"But that is what she is! An ugly dry carcass who stole my Harry!"
"She can't steal what was never yours, Ginny," Harry said calmly. He turned his attention to the Weasleys. "Yes, Mrs. Weasley, Mr. Weasley, Hermione couldn't have children ('oh, poor dear!'). The reason doesn't matter right now." Mr. Weasley nodded at this. "But even the most powerful dark magic can be weakened by a love bond between two soul mates."
Incapable of controlling herself, Mrs. Weasley went towards the couple and wrapped Harry in a tight embrace, making him let go of Hermione's hand.
"Oh, Harry dear!" she cried. "I'm so sorry about Ginevra, but I am happy for you! Soul mates! Oh! Soul mates are so rare and special! I'll do everything in my power to help you, and-"
At same time, unnoticed by them, Ginny began to raise her wand and point it in Hermione's direction. Her mouth sluggishly opened as she began to articulate some kind of curse.
"Ginny?" Ron seemed to be the only to notice her movement, maybe a little too late. "Ginny, no!"
Everything that happened next seemed to have occurred in slow motion. No one could tell exactly who else screamed, or who stayed in astonished silence. Harry, in a desperate measure, tried to pull Hermione out of the way as Ron ran towards his sister, in an attempt to be fast enough and stop her.
Everything happened within mere seconds, half of seconds.
The dark orange spell was about to hit Hermione when something unexpected happened. It was some kind of explosion.
Vida had appeared and blocked the curse, making the spell backfired on Ginny.
The blue phoenix went into Hermione's direction, and gently nipped her ear, as if she was trying to see if the young witch was all right.
Hermione pet Vida's feathers with trembling hands. "Thank you, Vida."
Vida let out a melodic song before flying away.
"Oh, god, Hermione." Harry enveloped Hermione in a tight embrace. "Are you okay? Everything happened so fast."
"I-I am fine, Harry," she assured him. "I'm just feeling a little stupid. What about Ginny?"
They broke their embrace, and turned at where Ginny stood. She had been taken to one of the beds. She seemed fine, excepted for a large cut on her left cheek.
Mrs. Weasley was whipping by her side, as Madam Pomfrey was cleaning the cut.
Mr. Weasley, on the other hand, seemed more serious and old than anyone had ever seen him before. "Poppy," he said tiredly, "what happens if you don't cure the cut?" The old nurse snapped her head at him. "I mean, if you only clear it from infection but don't make any attempts to actually heal it."
Madam Pomfrey looked thoughtful. "Nothing, Arthur," she replied. "If you think only about her health, just cleaning the cut is enough." She paused, and sighed. "However, if I don't close the cut and don't give her some cicatrisation potion straight away, your daughter will have a horrible scar across her face for the rest of her life."
Arthur Weasley gave her a short nod. "So leave the cut open," he said firmly, causing a great gasp by all present in the room.
"Arthur!"
"Dad!" Ginny and Mrs. Weasley cried at same time. "You can't do this to me, daddy!"
"You did this to yourself, Ginevra," he spat, "you proved to everyone in this room that you didn't deserve any kind of consideration. You will have this scar on your face for the rest of your life. This scar will only show the world what kind of human being you are."
"Arthur," Mrs. Weasley tried to intervene, "I don't think it's necessary."
"Yes, it is, Molly!" Mr. Weasley cried. "We always considered Harry and Hermione as our own children. Harry saved her life, Molly! And how has Ginevra repaid him? By lying and trying to kill his unborn child!" Molly brought a hand to her mouth; finally understanding her daughter's final action. She nodded sadly at her husband.
Ginny looked between her parents, desperately. "No, daddy!" she begged. "You can't do this to me! Mummy!" Seeing that her parents were not going to change their minds, she turned to Hermione-a pitiful last attempt. "H-Hermione," she whined, "I-I am sorry....I swear I-I didn't mean any of this...I-I don't know what came over me. P-Please t-talk to my d-dad..."
Hermione just laughed at her. "I wish I was more understanding, I wish I was the kind of person who can forgive easily, but I can't." She smiled. "To me you would never have had this scar-" She paused a second before continuing. "To me, you could have several others, one for each lie, each time you plotted against me."
"But I can't stay like this!"
"Oh, Ginny," Hermione replied mockingly, "I don't fucking care."
The young brown haired witched sighed, and then took Harry's hand. "Let's get out of here, love." She didn't seem to be bothered by the fact they were wearing Hospital clothes, that they were supposed to stay there, or anything else.
Harry gave her a lopsided grin and leaned closer to her, capturing her mouth on his own. The kiss was tender and sweet, and didn't last long. "Yes, let's get out of here."
Looking into his emerald green eyes, Hermione knew exactly where she belonged.
