The battle is over and Voldemort is dead but not all the Death Eaters are vanquished or captured. Harry is on his way to return the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's tomb, when he is called back to the castle. No one other than the chosen one appears to know that Hermione is in grave danger, that her life, the very existance of the girl he secretly loves more than any other is about to be blasted into oblivion. One silly little spell has changed everything, is it possible for Harry to put it right and what will be the consequenses for them both?
The story begins with the last few words. All was well - but all was not what it seemed. It is six months after the final battle, and the war has forced friendships apart. Harry discovers that Hermione is missing, after going to the other side of the world to face her parents, and it is down to him to find her, and save her, if he can.

Horcrux hunting, dark wizard baiting, death and destruction, and a bit of love abound (I hope). Hermione could feel her head beginning to spin, her anger reached such a level that the air around her began to spark and crackle, and then she launched into her final tirade. “HOW DARE YOU DECIDE TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR ME …YOU DO NOT OWN ME RONALD WEASLEY. NO ONE OWNS ME… AND DON’T YOU EVER, EVER CALL ME HERMS AGAIN… MY NAME IS HERMIONE.” Well I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that and I don't think Ron does either.

"Standing they held each others hand and indulged in a last kiss. Harry waved his hand and at his summons the stone arch appeared before them, the lightly fluttering veil hiding what lay beyond; there was no hesitation in their pace, they walked confidently up to the threshold and side by side they stepped through. On its velvety blue cushion Hermione’s Tear gave one final burst of light then lay there cold and dark, and then as if it was melting away, vanished from the cottage."
This takes the story from the end of Hermione's Tear to the end of Harry's seventh year at Hogwarts. He has Hermione at his side, the rest of the Tyr behind him, and Voldemort in front of him. Whoever wins everybody loses something.
"‘I will bide my time’ he thought to himself ‘I will wait for the right moment. I know that James’ boy is the only one who can remove it. Terrible wizard that he is I will have to find someway to persuade him, if not there are other ways. I wonder how clever will you be Miss Granger without your head?” The rat turned and scuttled away back to Hogsmead where he had found a nice warm sewer to hide in."
