AU - During their sixth year, Harry and Hermione drifted apart. Jealousy, indifference and intolerance plagued their relationship until the funeral of their Headmaster. On the train home, Harry suffers from a strange illness and Hermione begins acting erratically, fighting a battle between wanting to punch Harry and wanting to snog him senseless. A mysterious Japanese orphan gets thrust into their lives, whose secrets may hold the key to life, love, and ultimately, the final battle. Excerpt from Ch. 53: “I was going to ask you about why you had lied about contacting the previous employers of all of these applicants…” Harry calmly interrupted as he held up the open folder in his hands so that Vernon could see. Harry then snapped the folder closed, carelessly dropped it on the table, then leaned forward while resting his palms on the surface and said in a low, dangerous whisper, “…but I’d much rather know what happened to the three million, seven hundred seventy-nine thousand, six hundred eleven Pounds that you stole from my Gringott’s vault.”

A one-shot H/Hr story that was canon-compliant, including the Epilogue -- but which doesn't require dead Weasleys, divorced Weasleys, or a cheating Harry or Hermione. That was my goal... read and tell me if it succeeds.
Picks up a number of years after the Epilogue. In the winter of Harry's fortieth year things are starting to unravel.
Boring title, boring story. Deliberately vague in many aspects. A game of Quidditch can be exciting, and frustrating at the same time. *Excerpt*: Several fruitless minutes passed and he was getting agitated. He briefly wondered if it had snuck inside someone’s uniform but quickly disregarded the thought as soon as it came up. He didn’t fancy using his Seeker skills that way. The fact remained, however, that the Snitch was currently nowhere to be found.
After the war, nothing seems more important than putting lives back together. Under the rule of a new minister, Harry and his friends are separated and relocated to new lives continents apart. Though they know this is the way it has to be, Harry can't but hope but to one day find himself in his lover's arms. Unlikely news brings Harry rushing back, but not without consequences as the flame he once suppressed roars to life, and Harry wants nothing more than to pick up where he thought he left off.
Sometimes we are given a new chance to make things right. Post-DH, ignoring epilogue. One Shot.
Ignores the epilogue to book seven. Takes place some years after Hogwarts. Character death, much drama and angst. Harry goes through everyday life in a muggle penitentiary without the people he loves the most.
