Hermione's world comes to a sudden stop one night with little more than a knock at the door. Oneshot, though could expand into more chapters.
Ever wonder how things might have turned out if Harry and Hermione had formed a romantic attachment? Well I have so I am taking a few moments/scenes from Deathly Hallows and making them much more in tune with our vision of romance. ;) Not a complete story re write.
“I think we need to get engaged.” It was only when she heard James chocking loudly, however, that she finally got up the courage to look up at him, “something wrong love?”
"Everything I've ever told you has been a lie! I never meant any of it! Sometimes I wonder why I wanted you so bad." Lily looked at him. "Please, don't do this. When you put this ring on my finger, you promised you wouldn't leave me."
Sirius loved Lily. James loved Lily. Lily didn't know who she loved.
READ AUTHORS NOTE THAT WAS ADDED! The missing scene of Deathly Hallows. Harry had defeated the darkest wizard of his time, but lost so many. The last thing either Harry or Hermione wanted to do was lose eachother, so they held out...for the safe choice.
She wished he would tease her about eavesdropping, nudge her with a crooked smile, or huddle up next to her; whisper in her ear, asking what she’d heard. Like he used to. Things were different now.

She liked him...or thought she did. It was possible. Really, details of that sort were fuzzy and of no importance. The two things she knew for certain when it came to Caradoc Dearborn? One, he was a magnet, pulling her closer all the time. Two, love was simply too strong of a word to describe what they had. Maybe attraction was a better word. The fact remained that he was still her magnet, probably always would be. But, as it goes with life, there is always something bigger to pull that magnet apart. In the case of one Lily Evans, it could be love.
She wasn’t really his Lily anymore… Oh, he could argue with himself over that one all day. But at the end of the day, she was always the one he’d wanted. She was always the one he’d thought about, the one he’d longed for. He’d not even dated since her, for fear he would forget what her love felt like... So, in a sense, she had always been and always would be, his Lily.
Everyone needs a best friend. How about two? When everything changes in a world you've become accustomed to, your best friends can make all the difference in the world. Especially for seventh-year Lily Evans.

Hermione keeps trying to talk to her husband but fate intervenes. Canon through DH, but without Epilogue.
Spoilers for Book 7. There is speculation about what really went on in the tent after Ron left. So with ignoring all of the chapters after Ron's departure, here is my take on what JKR should have done right as Ron left . (Come on, Harry wouldn't just throw blankets over Hermione and then go to bed.)
My take on why Harry and Hermione seem to not be talking to each other in the epilogue. One-shot.
Eavesdropping Warning: You just might find your true love. That's what happened to Harry Potter when he listened to Ginny and Hermione talking...things will never be the same now that he and Hermione have their chance to love each other. He finds his reality. Blatantly fluff, so no excuses.
Hermione has a secret admirer. How will Harry react to it? And how will Hermione deal with the matter, adding to a stressful period at work?

He was everything that I’d ever wanted; I only wish that I was the same for him.

Thirteen years after the Dark Lord was vanquished, Draco Malfoy is out of Azkaban, wandless, practically destitute and physically afflicted from his trespasses against Voldemort. Who should chance by and save this shell of a man from the ice he has become, but a fiery redhead from his dark past. (Written before book 7, but some scenes bare a certain resemblance that is too striking to not have a spoiler warning for DH.)
Hesitating, on purpose or not, you don't know, he takes a seat down next to her…he puts hand on her thigh…it starts sliding excruciatingly slowly…back and forth…the fingers of his hand venture beneath the hem of the dress for the briefest of seconds…you can feel your breath quicken with hers…you stare, transfixed, not daring to even blink…
AU: it was when she was his that he couldn’t imagine her as such, but it was when he lost her that he couldn’t imagine her as anything but his.

Harry has a revelation as the countdown to the New Year begins...
he was supposed to hate her, but somehow she managed to get past his defenses regardless of that fact.
No Epilogue. This is a response to one of my own challenges that I issued here on portkey. Harry dresses as Santa for Ron, and Hermione kisses Harry by mistake. Let the dramedy ensue.
After they see the train to Hogwarts depart, Harry and Hermione have to remember their past. They have to remember who they were. HHr. Follows hours before and after the epilogue. One-Shot.
It's 5 years after the war, it's Christmas and at the Burrow there's the usual nightly reunion. Ron has to pose as Santa for the kids, but gets called away. Harry fills for him, but nobody told Hermione about the exchange...
Two-Shot: there I was, the girl who would willingly give him anything and everything, the one that was prepared to die for him, but ironically enough I couldn’t fulfill the one thing that he ever requested of me.
A Christmas oneshot that's a splice of my previous L/Js.
It's Christmas Eve and Harry and Hermione have some quiet time with their family and each other. EWE (Epilogue? What epilogue?)

Gingerly, Hermione stepped over the threshold, and into the cold night air. By now, the clouds had entirely disappeared, and a chilling calm had taken hold around them. Fully supported by Ron, Hermione leaned on the railing of the balcony, silent and staring at the stars.
