As a particularly licentious story about Harry breaks in the Daily Prophet he discovers that a truer story about unsung heroes has been pulled from the Quibbler. Apparently to right this wrong, Luna sends him to stay with some old friends who have just found good fortune. Once there, he discovers an empathy with an unlikely creature and begins at long last to believe Hermione may be ready to reach out and restore their strained friendship. Post Hogwarts.
Harry continues his first year as a Hogwarts teacher but it is his new involvement with Further Education classes that reveals some disturbing developments at the Ministry. Meanwhile, as one shy and reclusive student pursues a secret obsession in the castle, another frightened youth hides deep in the Forbidden Forest. Neither knows of the other, but they are destined to meet before an innocuous shoebox and share The Boy Who Lived’s final secret. This post-Hogwarts story is a sequel to Journey Home.
Knowing he only has hours before he finally confronts Voldemort, Harry arrives at his vault at Gringotts and finds Ron. The last Horcrux has been destroyed and he is keen to get away only Ron seems insistent on staying longer. While Ron tries to explain, Harry finds his attention wandering as he reminisces about his regrets and the legacy that would send him on the path towards his destiny. Completed.
Hours after the funeral, Voldemort hears how his spy’s eagerness for revenge may have lead them to disobey him and risk exposure. Meanwhile back at Hogwarts, Harry discovers evidence of an impostor in their midst, although a glimpse of Hermione’s vision in the Mirror of Erised may prove to have greater consequences. Completed.
Voldemort was defeated only hours ago and yet Harry has been incarcerated in Azkaban. Hermione breaks into his cell to be close to him while she tries to work out what could have happened and whether her recollections of the Centaurs and Unspeakables are real or imagined. Was she really there to not only witness, but also help with the demise of Voldemort after all? This is a companion piece to The Third Day, told from Hermione’s perspective.
Hermione, finding herself suddenly and unexpectedly alone on her birthday, is pleasantly surprised when Harry turns up. Having spent so long fruitlessly trying to persuade him to think about a career, it comes as something of a shock to learn that he has secretly gained respectable employment. Harry also seems intent upon telling her something more, but perhaps his birthday gift will only serve to remind her of something lost. Post Hogwarts.
Voldemort may have gone, but the Wizarding World is still at war. As armies are preparing to do battle at the last stand of their Lord Protector and absolute ruler, Harry learns his own future rebellious family and friends will be slaughtered by the unconquered Gryffindor Army. The seeds of their destruction were sewn in the present day and Harry fears the only way he can save them is by setting himself against the increasingly ruthless Miss Alice and her Invisible Army as she prepares to bring Voldemort’s reign of terror to a premature end irrespective of the cost in lives. In the holidays after his Sixth Year, Harry returns to Hogwarts after spending a few days at Privet Drive in some unusual company. He is joined by Ron and Hermione, but before he can confide his plans they will need to be tested. Will the Deceiver’s Distillation reveal an impostor?
It is almost time for the OWL results, but Harry’s off on a sponsored walk in aid of the house elves. The walk ends with Harry having to be pulled from a raging river. The results arrive and Hermione wants to know why he’s less than enthusiastic about knowing his results. Soon, though, he may just want to throw himself back in again.
Harry has been away from the magical world for a while, having lost his ability to perform magic when he defeated Voldemort. Summoned back, he can hardly believe the changes that have happened. The new Dark Lord’s influence has spread quickly and this time the Order isn’t there to help. Still, perhaps all Harry really needed to get his strength back was one of Mrs Weasley’s breakfasts. Harry receives a belated invitation to join the Grangers for the Easter holidays. Looking forward to helping out with their redecorating, he soon finds himself implicated in a bank robbery. Arthur and Kingsley will help as soon as they extricate themselves from a certain cupboard, and even Dumbledore may struggle not to laugh at Harry’s first and memorable attempt at Apparating. Regrettably, though, Harry may just have come to the attention of his Eminence. Inevitably, Harry finds himself trying to break into the very bank he was falsely suspected of robbing.
The office that was reputed to hold the most dangerous and unpredictable individuals traumatised from the war is now down to two. Fittingly, they are widely considered to be the most dangerous and unpredictable out of all the previous residents. He has a long way to go, but finally and with a little encouragement, Harry is ready to begin his own journey home. Completed.
Harry is shocked to learn that his friend Carmen, a young witch prodigy, is missing along with the book and watercolour he’d bought her as souvenirs of a day trip to a times past event. The only clue appears to be in the puzzles Carmen created for Harry, which indicate she may be trapped in a time long ago. Will Harry and Hermione risk becoming trapped in a paradox themselves as they try to find her? Will Harry stop scratching for long enough to understand the plan and what will Mrs Mopp think this time? Sequel to “The Golden Serpent.”
Returned to Grimmauld Place, a depressed Harry is attacked leaving him to share a coma with a monstrous shape-changing creature that helps him through his grieving. Taking the form of Hermione, she insists he must re-organise his memories, revise for his exam re-sits and wake up in time for the start of term! She then follows Harry back to school, determined to make him accept a terrible truth. Distractions include encounters with some errant cheerleader battens, a duel with a Knight in armour and the discovery of two most unlikely guardian angels. Completed.
Hogwarts plays host to a young witch prodigy whose extraordinary talents include a gift for potions. Harry inadvertently fulfils the beginning a Prophecy about the girl. This leads Harry to discuss his own Prophecy with Hermione. She does not react in the way he expects her to.
Two unwelcome visitors arrive at the school and announce that a wizard will arrive shortly to challenge Flamel, the eldest member of a group of sorcerers that guard Hogwarts’ greatest secret. Can Hermione cope with any more House disunity, Crookshanks’ new look and Harry’s determination to fight the charismatic challenger in place of the ailing Flamel?
Harry is introduced to a new way of travelling undetected. This leads to a shocking discovery that not even the attentions of the First Aid Club and Snape can distract Harry from. Battling his own conscience, Harry needs a weapon to fight Voldemort’s unseen agents from the shadows. After Harry is stabbed and poisoned, the DA battles on. At the same time in another world, Harry stands alone, fighting the creatures coming out of the darkness to attack his friends as they fight and fall.
Ginny takes over an investigation after a number of hate letters are received threatening Harry and Hermione’s young children. Realising the seriousness of their situation, Ginny utilises the full resources of the Ministry, taking full advantage of the fact that no one dare object publicly to helping the Potters. Suspecting the full extent of the conspiracy, Ginny realises she may have to use the Potters as bait and wait for an attack. Not for Ron fans.
Hermione has succeeded in breaking the Crucible charm and sets about researching the origins of Harry’s Apprentice Piece. A Death Eater attack interrupts her telling of the story, but Harry intervenes and Ron earns his Prefect Badge back. Later, Voldemort attacks again during a Quidditch match. Although prepared for a Death Eater attack, the DA is helpless against Voldemort’s new pet. Harry knows this is a trap but rushes to the aid of Dumbledore, standing alone in the middle of the Quidditch pitch facing The Dragon.
Harry is attacked and ends up in a remote Muggle hospital. Before the Order finds him, a Police Inspector takes an interest. Unfortunately, he wants a word with Vernon Dursley. Harry must remain a little longer, but he needs help now. Perhaps a timepiece can suggest a solution.
Just after Halloween during his Sixth Year, Harry looks forward to Christmas at Grimmauld Place. Before then he contends with a challenge in the Auror tent, upsetting Hermione and learning of a charm placed upon him as an infant. After being attacked by a school visitor, Hermione sets out to break the charm, enlisting a number of co-conspirators including her mother. Christmas is interrupted by Voldemort. After Harry dives into falling debris to protect Hermione, she takes the opportunity to finally try and break the Crucible.
After an attempt to help Ginny stop having nightmares, Harry inadvertently finds himself watching an unusual Quidditch match from a high tower. Dozens of Harry Potters are playing, each endlessly falling victim to a variety of unfortunate injuries as the crowd cheers on. A distracted Harry contends with a hat, trolls and dancing.
A day that began with a pleasant surprise at Privet Drive is drawing to an end. Unfortunately, the Dursleys will be back soon. Will Harry find time before Tonks comes back to return his friends home?
After a late change of plans, Harry goes to stay with Neville during the summer holidays. Ginny and Luna discover where he is hiding and endeavour to make Harry reveal why he refused to go to the Burrow as planned. Harry eventually confides in his three friends but becomes very uncomfortable when they begin to debate his concerns.
In the Summer before Sixth Year, Harry gets a job. Harry is soon called away but not before he completes an unusual apprentice piece. After surviving an examination review, an encounter with an Unspeakable and a hunting trip with Hagrid, Harry’s optimism for the new school year is sorely tested by Ron and by something Moody describes as “lethal and completely unsuitable for teaching a young would-be Auror. Right up your street Potter, Eh?”
Hermione is struggling to recover after her memories of the past two years are fractured. Her friends know there is little time to discover Dumbledore’s hidden messages. As Hermione learns more about the final battle and Harry’s fate, she realises they need a vital link that may restore her full memories. Dumbledore has entrusted Hermione to make an important decision concerning Harry.
During his summer before Sixth Year, Harry wakes to find himself somewhere unexpected to his considerable embarrassment. Before being returned to Privet Drive he learns that a private memorial service will be held for Sirius and the Dursleys are invited too. Along the way a train journey with Mr Weasley, an audience with Mrs Longbottom and a gleaming fast car with personalised licence plates that read “APWBD 2”
Harry has been invited to stay at the Grangers during the summer holidays. Breakfast soon becomes his favourite time of the day although, during the holidays, Hermione certainly isn’t a morning person. At the end of a particularly enjoyable day, something provokes Harry. In a night-time storm of exploding glass and masonry throughout the neighbourhood, Harry breaks down and makes a confession with consequences for himself and the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad.
